UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls at St. Mary's, 10-9

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-9 decision at St. Mary's College on Wednesday night in St. Mary's City, Md. The Eagles slip to 6-9 on the season.

The Eagles started swiftly, netting the first three goals of the game, as Dave Votapek scored a pair of goals and Mike Seraphin-Jones added another. After a SMC score J.D. Nozemack added a pair of goals to close the first and the Eagles led, 5-2, after one.

In the second, Garrett Keogh scored on a Jackson Davis assist, sandwiched between two Seahawk goals, and the Eagles led, 6-4, at halftime.

After St. Mary's scored the only two goals of the second to tie the score, the fourth started with St. Mary's scoring to take the lead. UMW answered with a score from Carter Lynch to tie the score. The Seahawks then scored three straight to take a 10-7 lead, before Lynch and Votapek scored for the Eagles, who came up just short.

St. Mary's led in shots, 43-35, as well as ground balls, 31-28. UMW goalie Riley Green made 16 saves.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m.
