Nozemack Breaks Career Points Record as UMW Men’s Lacrosse Beats Lebanon Valley, 18-12

Five UMW players scored two goals, as the UMW men's lacrosse team beat Lebanon Valley College, 18-12, on Wednesday afternoon. Senior J.D. Nozemack led the way with two scores and six assists, gaining the program career points record in the process, with his 198th. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season.

Nozemack opened the game with an unassisted tally at 13:51, with Jackson Davis following closely with a goal at 10:08 to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Lebanon Valley scored next at 7:17, but UMW pulled ahead with 3-straight goals from Jake Furman, Hunter Tipton, and Ethan Castleman.

The Flying Dutchmen opened the 2nd quarter with a goal 2 minutes in, but Jackson Popeck found the back of the net on the assist from J.D. Nozemack at 8:28. The Eagles scored two more goals in the 2nd, both from Henry Moag, now with a 3-goal advantage for a 8-5 score at halftime.

Lebanon Valley came into the 3rd strong, scoring two goals in 41 seconds, but Mary Washington added another 7 goals, from Keegan Shipe, Carter Lynch, Jackson Davis, Ethan Castleman, J.D. Nozemack, and Jacob Fowler.

UMW scored two goals to start the 4th, by Garrett Keogh and Dave Votapek, with Owen Castleman finishing off the Eagles' scoring bout at 2:18 to secure the victory.

Mary Washington led in shots, 43-35, and won 22 of 32 faceoffs. UMW senior goalkeeper Riley Green made eight saves in 45 minutes between the Eagle pipes, with Wyatt Martin, Ryan D'Angelo, David Pritchard, and Nick Balducci splitting time for the last 15 minutes of the match. Greysen Reylek notched five ground balls.

The Eagles will be back in action next Wednesday when they host the DaSales University Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m.
