UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls in Regular Season Finale at #3 Salisbury

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 23-5 decision at third-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday in both teams' regular season finale. The Eagles slip to 8-9 on the season.

Salisbury opened the scoring with three goals in the first quarter, and added seven in the second to take a 10-0 advantage to halftime. In the third quarter, Salisbury continued its momentum with six tallies, before junior Garrett Keogh tallied for the Eagles on a Logan Green assist with 3:23 remaining. After another SU score, Keogh and Green hooked up again for another score with 1:37 left.

In the fourth, senior Cameron Walker opened the scoring with 12:29 remaining, and tallied another with 4:08 left. Junior Jackson Popeck capped the scoring in the final seconds with an unassisted score.

The Sea Gulls led in shots, 66-30, and held a 41-37 edge in ground balls. UMW junior goalie Riley Green made 12 saves in 40 minutes, and Wyatt Martin (1), Noah Smith (2) and Nicholas Balducci (6) combined for nine saves in relief.

The Eagles will return to Salisbury on Tuesday in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference tournament semifinal at 4:00 p.m.
