Delaney Announces 2020 UMW Men's Lacrosse Captains

Mary Washington head coach Drew Delaney announced four team captains for the 2020 men's lacrosse season on Friday. Seniors Chase Kapuscienski, Nate Holic, JC Reynolds, and junior Jamin Lane will all serve as team captains for the Eagles for the first time in their collegiate careers.

"Our staff is excited to announce the 2020 Mary Washington captains," Delaney said. "Each of these four student-athletes were selected to help establish the culture and path of this team in 2020.  The leadership positions they have earned are genuinely rigorous and the magnitude of their task is not lost on any of them. However, through each of their years in the program our newly appointed captains have shown a commitment to progress and have the backing and support of their teammates above all, to help lead this program to heightened academic and athletic success."

Kapuscienski, a midfielder and biology major, has appeared in every game since arriving to Fredericksburg from Grafton, Mass. Over his 51 games, he has recorded 51 career points and is the highest returning point scorer from a 2019 squad that graduated 257 points.

Holic, a goalie and marketing major with a minor is physics, has been a four-year fixture on the team since arriving from Alexandria, Va. He saved 67% of the shots he faced in 8 games for the Eagles. Over the course of his career, Holic has earned the respect and influence of his teammates by embodying great character, a great work ethic, and being a great teammate.

Reynolds, an accounting major with a minor in sports management from Alexandria, Va., has recorded 6 points and 11 GBs in his 37 appearances for the Eagles. He has played every midfield role; as a defensive specialist, taking wings on face-offs, and playing on an offensive line during his three seasons in Fredericksburg.

Lane, a communications major and the lone junior among the captains, is a defender hailing from Stafford, Va. He played in all 18 games as a sophomore and appeared in 3 games as a freshman. Lane has recorded a goal, 14 groundballs, and 6 caused turnovers during his 21 appearances.

The 2020 captains will lead a young team that includes 34 freshmen and sophomores into a schedule offering a number of challenging opponents. The slate of games is highlighted by four teams that made the 2019 NCAA Tournament in Salisbury University, York College, Washington and Lee University, and Ursinus College. The team will open the regular season against Hampden Sydney College at home in Fredericksburg on February 8.
