UMW Men’s Lacrosse Falls to #14 Washington and Lee on Wednesday Evening

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell to fourteenth-ranked Washington and Lee University, 22-3, on Wednesday evening in Lexington, VA. UMW slips to 3-3 on the season. 

In the early going, the two teams played great defense and nobody could put the ball in the back of the next. The Generals scored the first goal with 6:03 remaining in the first quarter. Washington and Lee then scored three to end the quarter and take a 4-0 lead. The Generals added seven goals in the second quarter and UMW failed to score. Washington and Lee held an 11-0 lead at the half.

After Washington and Lee scored the first goal of the second half, Chris White got the Eagles on the board with 13:32 to play on an assist from Cole Hogan. White added a second goal with 6:04 remaining on an assist from Logan Greene to put the score at 14-2. 

Washington and Lee added a few more goals, until Kieran Burns capped the scoring on the day with 6:10 to play.

Senior Rob Tata led the Eagles with six ground balls. Joe Marchesano added two caused turnovers and five ground balls. 

The Eagles will host Catholic on Saturday at 1 p.m.
