The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell to sixteenth-ranked Christopher Newport University, 14-7, in the CAC Quarterfinals in Newport News, Va. The Eagles finish their season 7-10.

In the first quarter, UMW got up 1-0 on a score from Cole Hogan assisted by Shane McKenzie with 9:01 to play. CNU then scored three straight to end the quarter and take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.

The Captains added a tally early in the second quarter to up their lead to 4-1. From there, UMW tallied the last two goals of the quarter to get within one, 4-3. Hogan added his second of the day with 4:12 to play, and then Chris White scored with just 25 seconds left on an assist from Ben Byrne.

CNU scored the first three goals of the third quarter to take a 7-3 lead with 11:09 to play. Robert Tata put an end to that run as he scored on a White assist with 9:21 remaining. The Captains scored the last goal of the quarter with 3:07 remaining and took an 8-4 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Eagles made a run as they scored two straight goals to get within two, 8-6. White scored on a Byrne assist and then Hogan scored unassisted with 13:48 remaining in the game. CNU added two goals to up their lead to 10-6. White then scored for the Eagles on an assist from McKenzie with 8:30 left. From there, the Captains scored four unanswered and held on to win 14-7.

Tata picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers on the day for the Eagles. Owen Dingman picked up four ground balls, while Billy Senicola recorded 15 saves for UMW.
