The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-1 first quarter lead on the way to an 11-7 victory over St. Mary's College on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 6-7 overall, and 3-3 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

UMW started strong, as Drew Carlson scored on a Miles Davis assist just 27 seconds into the action. Two minutes, later, Noah Dewey scored on a Davis helper to raise the lead to 2-0, and Owen Dingman scored on a Mike Colgan assist with 9:23 left in the first to push the margin to 3-0.

Shane McKenzie provided UMW's fourth goal at 4:01 on a Chase Kapuscienski assist, before the Seahawks found the scoreboard to cut the margin to 4-1.
