UMW Men's Lax Tops Wesley, 16-5, on Wednesday in CAC Action

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team scored early and often to put away Capital Athletic Conference foe Wesley College on Wednesday in a 16-5 victory. A trio of seniors of Jack Carver, Mike Marson and Drew Carlson led the way for the Eagles with a combined eight goals on 17 shots on goal in the game.

Marson scored his first of two goals as part of a 6-0 run to open the game for the Eagles. Miles Davis scored his lone goal of the game and two of his three assists during the opening run. Carlson scored two of his game-high four goals in the first half while sophomore Chris White also chipped in two first half goals to give the Eagles a 9-1 lead at halftime.

The start of the second half was much of the same for UMW, outscoring the Wolverines 6-0 in the third quarter. Carlson and Carver scored two goals each in the quarter along with goals from Marson and James Cicio to round out the third quarter scoring.

Shane McKenzie led the way for the Eagles with a game-high five assists of UMW's 15. In goal, Billy Senicola earned the win after playing 42 minutes in net and recording two saves.

UMW forced 32 turnovers during the game and outshot the Wolverines 47-27, only allowing 12 shots over the first three quarters. The Eagles controlled 17 of 24 face-offs in the game.

The Eagles will be at home on Saturday in a CAC battle against York College (Pa.) at 1 p.m. at the Battlegrounds.
