UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls at Albright, 13-7

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-7 decision at Albright College in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 1-2 on the season.

Senior Jack Carver scored the first points of the day off an assist by fellow senior Miles Davis. After an Albright score, UMW used goals from Drew Carlson and Mike Marson, and led, 3-2, after one quarter.

In the second quarter, UMW started with a goal by Davis off an assist by senior Mike Marson to put their lead up to two, but the Lions would roar back with a barrage of goals in the last minute of the half to tie the score at 5-5 at intermission. 

The third quarter was all Albright as they were able to score four straight goals in the period and shut out the Eagles going into the fourth.

In the final frame, UMW used goals by juniors Owen Dingman and Conor Healy to draw to within 9-7 with 6:27 left in the game. However, the Lions extended their lead by scoring the next four goals to end the game at a score of 13-7. 

Jack Carver led UMW in points with one goal off four shots and contributing two assists. Plus, seniors Drew Carlson, Marson, and Davis each had the combination of a goal and an assist on the day.

UMW had 31 shots (7-31), had seven saves and went (11-24) on faceoffs. While Albright had 30 shots (13-30), won (13-24) of their faceoffs and had 12 saves.

The Eagles will look to improve on their record at the Battleground on Win 4 Wesley Day, when they face Ursinus College on Saturday, Feb. 25th at 3 p.m.
