UMW Men's Lacrosse Hosts Stafford Junction Students

UMW Men's Lacrosse Hosts Stafford Junction Students

On Saturday October 31, 2015, 39 members of the UMW Men’s Lacrosse Team and the coaching staff put on a clinic for 27 guests from Stafford Junction at the Battleground Athletic Complex. The guests from Stafford Junction were introduced to each team member and each guest selected an instructor from among the team members.

The clinic participants, who were new to the sport of lacrosse, were taught the mechanics of throwing , catching and shooting. The finale of lacrosse instruction was a spirited defensive drill with some members of the team, which drew roars of applause when participant Kevin Cruz took the ball away from a UMW attacker with a timely check.

The participants then paired up with a team member and were given a brief session on the importance of conditioning, in a sequence of various relay races.  Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kurt Glaeser then finished up the clinic with a talk on nutrition, a mandarin orange for each participant and ironically, candy treats in honor of Halloween.
