UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls to Frostburg, 17-8, in Wednesday CAC Tilt

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-8 decision to CAC rival Frostburg State on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

In the early going, both teams exchanged goals and were all tied up at 3-3 by the end of the first. Jack Carver and Mike Marson scored the first two before Owen Dingman evened the score with seven seconds left.

In the second, the Eagles took the lead at 4-3 with 11:25 remaining in the period on a goal from Shane McKenzie. Less than a minute later and down two men, Frostburg scored to tie the score at 4-4. UMW regained the lead 30 seconds later at the 10:24 mark when Carver found Noah Dewey. Frostburg then scored four unanswered to take an 8-5 lead at the half.

In the second half, Frostburg scored again early to increase their lead to 9-5. Marson found Miles Davis with 9:27 remaining in the third quarter to cut the lead to 9-6. The Bobcats responded less than a minute later when they found the net again to push their lead back to four goals. Marson found Davis for another goal before Frostburg ended the quarter with four more unanswered goals to lead 14-7.

Frostburg picked up where they left off in the third, scoring three unanswered. Marson found Chris white with 6:36 remaining in the game, capping all scoring at 17-8.

UMW was led by one goal and three assists from Marson and two goals from Davis.

Frostburg led in ground balls, 52-36, and in faceoffs, 21-7. Sam Wasson made four saves in goal for the Eagles.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday at 1:00pm at Marymount to wrap up regular season play.
