UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls at #14 Ursinus, 9-5, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell 9-5 at 14th ranked Ursinus on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season.

Ursinus scored the first goals of the game, holding a 2-0 advantage with 11:57 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles responded at the 7:48 mark when Miles Davis found Mike Marson to cut the deficit to 2-1. Ursinus scored again with 4:33 left to increase the gap to 3-1 at the end of the first.

The Eagles took control in the second, scoring three goals in two minutes to take a 4-3 lead. Noah Dewey scored two goals, and Marson added the third.

In the third, the Eagles added to their lead on a Shane McKenzie goal at the 11:58 mark, pushing the lead to 5-3. Ursinus responded, and scored five unanswered goals to take a three goal lead at 8-5 going into the fourth quarter. Ursinus scored the only goal in the fourth at the 5:29 mark to secure the win.

Ursinus led in shots, 35-23, and also held a 34-22 advantage in ground balls, while UMW led in faceoffs 10-8. Brian Neff had 11 stops in goal for Ursinus and UMW's Sam Wasson had 11 saves.

The Eagles are back in action next Saturday at Widener at 1:00 PM.
