UMW Freshman Colin Bressan Named CAC Men's Lax Defensive Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury sophomore Carson Kalama and Mary Washington freshman Colin Bressan were selected as the CAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for April 20, 2015.

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury sophomore Carson Kalama was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Sea Gulls with 10 goals in victories over York and Washington College last week. Kalama opened the week with six goals, including four of the Sea Gulls' first five scores, in a 19-6 win over York on Wednesday. He needed only six shots for his six goals and also picked up four ground balls against the Spartans. Kalama followed up that performance with a four-goal, one-assist effort in a 23-5 triumph over the Shoremen. He shot 71.4 percent for the week.

Mary Washington freshman goalkeeper Colin Bressan received CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after helping the Eagles secure a CAC Tournament bid with wins over No. 18 Frostburg State and Marymount last week. Bressan made a career-high-tying 19 saves in the 6-4 victory over Frostburg State, and added eight saves as the Eagles edged Marymount 8-7. He posted a 71.1 save percentage and a 5.5 goals against average for the week.

The six-team CAC Tournament field is now set, with the first round slated for Wednesday ... No. 1 Salisbury and No. 2 Frostburg State earned first round byes ... First round matchups feature No. 6 Mary Washington at No. 3 Christopher Newport and No. 5 St. Mary's at No. 4 York ... CNU recorded its first-ever victories over St. Mary's and York last week to lock up the No. 3 seed. Goalkeeper Matt Hayden registered 16 saves against St. Mary's and 13 saves against the Spartans ... Frostburg State goalkeeper Tom Kraemer stopped a total of 22 shots in a 1-1 week for the Bobcats ... York's all-time leading scorer, Hutson now has 280 career points on 202 goals and 78 assists.
