The University of Mary Washington mourns the loss of Griffin Burke, a junior member of the men's lacrosse team, who passed away on Saturday.

"I am saddened to report the death of one of our students, junior Griffin C. Burke of Spotsylvania", said UMW Vice President for Student Affairs Doug Searcy. "Griffin, a business administration major and member of the UMW lacrosse team, died early today at an off-campus residence."

"We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Griffin Burke", said UMW Director of Athletics Ken Tyler. "Our thoughts, prayers, and support go out to his family and friends."
