Bressan's 19 Saves Lead UMW Men's Lax to 6-4 Win at #18 Frostburg on Wednesday Evening

Freshman goalkeeper Colin Bressan made 19 saves to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to a 6-4 win at 18th ranked Frostburg State University on Wednesday evening. The Eagles improve to 6-7 overall, and 3-4 in league play.

The Eagles opened the scoring, netting the lone goal of the first quarter, as Miles Davis scored on a Greg Smith assist with 9:56 remaining in the quarter. The Eagles led despite being outshot, 8-4, in the quarter, as Bressan recorded six saves in the opening 15 minutes.

In the second, the Bobcats scored in the opening minute to tie the score, but the Eagles regained the lead three minutes later, as senior Jack Bondurant scored unassisted with 11:42 remaining. The Bobcats again tied the score with 6:27 left, and the score stood tied at 2-2 at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Eagles take charge, as Owen Dingman scored with 14:28 remaining on another Smith feed. Senior Jared Krikorian scored on a Mike Marson assist with 13:05 left in the quarter, and senior Teddy Blyskal capped the quarter with an unassisted score with 1:09 remaining, giving the Eagles a 5-2 advantage.

In the fourth, Smith scored with 6:13 left to run the lead to 6-2, before the Bobcats scored twice in the final minute to trim the final score to 6-4.

The Bobcats led in shots, 35-30, and in ground balls, 40-25. The Bobcats held a 10-4 advantage in faceoffs. Bressan stopped 19 shots and added three ground balls, while Chris Garcia added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Eagles will close the regular season on Saturday when they host Marymount University at 1:00 p.m. for senior day.
