UMW Men's Lacrosse Tops Southern Va., 15-5, in Saturday CAC Action

Senior Jack Bondurant scored four goals to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to a 15-5 victory at Southern Virginia University on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the year.

Bondurant opened the scoring with 12:22 remaining in the first quarter, and was followed one minute later with a score from Jack Carver. Jared Krikorian scored with 7:04 remaining on a Miles Davis assist, and Bondurant followed with goals with 6:20 and 1:38 left to push the UMW lead to 5-0 after one quarter.

In the second, Greg Smith scored on a Davis feed with 12:25 remaining, and Bondurant scored once more with 11:48 to go to push the lead to 7-0. Conor Healy and Ben Byrne followed with scores, before Owen Dingman and Drew Carlson added scores to push the Eagle lead to 11-0. The Eagles led, 11-1, at halftime.

The third quarter saw Carlson score on a Davis assist on a man-up chance before the Knights answered with two goals. Dingman scored with 3:31 left on a Carlson pass to cap nthe quarter scoring, with UMW in front, 13-3.

Dingman and James Cicio each scored goals for UMW in the fourth, with the final standing at 15-5.

UMW led in shots, 51-18, and in ground balls, 28-22. Colin Bressan had seven saves in goal for UMW on 12 shots faced.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Ferrum College at 4:00 p.m.
