#14 Eagles Close Regular Season With 16-6 Victory Against Marymount

Arlington, Va.-- The #14 University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse downed the Saints, 16-6 to end the regular season. The Eagles head into the CAC Tournament on a six game winning streak, and sit at 13-2, 5-2 CAC.

After a scorless start to the game, Luke Dick broke through on a Mike Marson pass to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Marymount answered right back to tie the game, before Griffin Burke scored with 3:50 remaining in the opening stanza. After another Saints goal, Dick scored his second of the quarter with just three seconds to go, giving the Eagles a 3-2 lead after one.

The Eagles used a 3-0 second quarter to pull away from the Saints before the half. Greg Smith scored on the man up advantage with nine miunutes before the break. After a Joey Marson tally, Burke struck again this time on the man up. Burke gave the Eagles a 6-2 lead off a Chip Pittard assist.

Joey Marson led the UMW attack in the third, that saw the Eagles jump out ahead and never look back. Marson score the first goal in the quarter, and was followed up by a pair by Luke Dick. John Bohlinger scored his first of the game just seconds after the Dick goal to give the Eagles a 10-2 lead. Marymount would score twice in the third, but goals from Pittard and Mack Cary saw the Eagles ahead 12-4 heading into the fourth.

Griffin Burke, Chris Garcia, and Bohlinger (2) scored goals for the Eagles in the final quarter to give the Eagles the 16-6 win. Zack DelGrosso made four saves in 60 minutes of action in goal. Johnny Esposito won 17-25 faceoffs on the day.

The Eagles return to the field on on April 23rd, as they will host the first round of the CAC Tournament. Time and oppponent are yet to be determined.
