#14 Men's Lacrosse Defeats La Roche, 19-6, on Saturday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #14 University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team defeated the Redhawks 19-6 at the Battleground on Saturday. UMW jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The Eagles move to 9-2 on the year.

John Bohlinger got the scoring started, scoring twice in the opening quarter. The Eagles got three goals late in the quarter from Luke Dick, Joey Marson, and Chip Pittard to take a 5-0 lead after the first. The Eagles picked up where they left off, scoring three goals early in the second. Luke Dick, Mike Marson, and Bohlinger provided the tallies to make the lead 8-0.

La Roche would answer back with a trio of goals midway through the second quarter. Dustin Reykdal scored twice, followed up by a Steve Murphy goal to cut the deficit to 8-3. Dick would score with just one second left on the clock on a wrap around to end the quarter up 9-3.

UMW came out swinging in the third, grabbing a goal on the opening possesion by Bohlinger. The Eagles would score four more times on goals from Bohlinger (2), Chip Pittard and Chris Garcia to extend the advantage to 14-4 after three quarters. UMW added another five goals (Johnny Esposito, J.D. West, Charlie Webb, Jack Bondurant, and Drew Carlson) to win 19-6.

Zack DelGrosso earned the win between the pipes, recording four saves on eight shots. The Eagles outshot the Redhawks 66-23, and won 19 out of 26 faceoffs.

The Eagles are back in action with a CAC showdown against Christopher Newport on April 9th. The matchup with the Captains begins at 7:00 p.m. from Newport News.
