#17 Eagles Drop Double Overtime Thriller to #15 York (Pa.) on Saturday, 11-10

York, Pa.-- The #17 University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell in their CAC opener, 11-10 in a double overtime thriller to the #15 Spartans. The Eagles had to come from behind at the half, but could not overcome the Spartans. UMW falls to 6-1, 0-1 CAC on the year.

York jumped out early, scoring three quick goals to open the game. Luke Dick fired back, scoring unassisted, to cut the deficit to two. After another York goal, Dick and Chip Pittard answered with back to back goals with under four to go in the quarter. However York ended the period with two goals in the final minute to lead 6-3 after one.

UMW found their stride in the second, scoring three goals from Pittard, Billy Kelly and Joey Marson, to go into the break only down one, at 7-6.

The Eagles came out of the locker room, and took the lead just two minutes in. Griffin Burke, and Pittard both scored unassisted to give the Eagles an 8-7 lead. York would tie the game just moments later, but UMW took a 9-8 lead into the final stanza, thanks to Pittard's fourth goal of the game.

In the final period, York scored twice to open the quarter, and take a 10-9 lead early. John Bohlinger found the back of the net with five minutes remaining to tie the game at the end of regulation, 10-10.

Neither team scored in th first overtime, then York's Tyler Hutson scored with only two minutes remaining to give the Spartans the win.

Pittard lead all scorers with four goals, with Luke Dick (2), Bohlinger, Billy Kelly, and Griffin Burke providing the other tallies. Zack DelGrosso made twelve saves for the Eagles between the pipes.

UMW returns to action Saturday, March 22, when they host Southern Virginia at 1:00 p.m.
