Mary Washington Men's Lacrosse Downs Ferrum, 13-6, on Wednesday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team defeated Ferrum 13-6 on Wednesday. The Eagles outshot the Panthers, 42-26 en route to the win. UMW moves to 4-0 on the year.

UMW got out on the Panthers early, scoring five goals in the opening quarter. Billy Kelly continued his hot start to the year, scoring off a Chip Pittard assist just 51 seconds in. John Bohlinger scored from a Kelly pass just minutes later, giving the Eagles and early 2-0 lead. Jared Krikorian, Griffin Burke and Luke Dick also scored in the opening stanza to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead after one.

Burke scored his second and third goals of the day in the second quarter upping the lead to 7-0. The Eagles kept the Panthers scoreless in the opening half, and ended the half up 8-0 thanks in part to another Bohlinger goal.

Ferrum struck first in the third quarter, scoring on a Nick Smith tally, but Luke Dick answered right back, scoring unassisted just minutes later. John Bohlinger scored two more times in the quarter, putting the game out of reach at 12-2. Bohlinger would add his fifth goal of the day in the fourth, as the Eagles went on to win 13-6.

UMW outshot Ferrum 42-26 in the contest, including 16 faceoff wins out of 23. Zack DelGrosso made eight saves in the contest to record his fourth win of the year.

The Eagles host Catholic on Saturday. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
