Three different players scored three goals to lead the 18th-ranked University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to a 19-6 win at Wesley College on Saturday afternoon in the Eagles' Capital Athletic Conference opener. The Eagles improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Eagles jumped out to an 8-1 advantage after one quarter. Six different players scored in the frame for UMW, led by Billy Kelly and Luke Dick's two scores apiece.
The Wolverines made a run in the second quarter, outscoring the visitors, 4-2. Sean Dacey and Joey Marson scored for UMW, and the guests held a 10-5 advantage at halftime.
The Eagles put the game away by scoring seven unanswered goals in the third quarter. The Eagles' depth showed, as seven different players scored in the frame. John Bohlinger and P.J. Hill scored in the fourth to cap the scoring at 19-6.
Bohlinger, Kelly, and Dacey all three goals for UMW, while Paul Tunick, Dick, and Griffin Burke each had two goals. Zack Del Grosso had 16 saves in goal for UMW, and Kyle Davitt added one in relief.
The Eagles led in shots, 41-37, and in ground balls, 47-42. Johnny Esposito led the Eagles with five ground balls.
Mary Washington will next be in action next Saturday when they visit Salisbury University in another CAC battle starting at 1:00 p.m.
