UMW Men's Lax Falls at #6 Washington & Lee, 9-4

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-4 loss at sixth-ranked Washington & Lee University on Wednesday night in Lexington, Va. The Eagles fall to 5-2 on the season.

The Generals jumped ahead, 3-0, after one quarter. The Eagles cut the deficit to 3-1, as junior Luke Dick scored unassisted with 9:50 remaining for the only score of the period.

In the third, the Eagles cut the deficit to 3-2, as senior Paul Tunick scored unassisted with 12:39 left in the third. From there, the Generals scored six straight goals to put the game away.

UMW cut the final to 9-4, as Billy Kelly and Tunick scored in the final five minutes of play.

The Generals led in shots, 31-25, and in ground balls, 28-24. Forrest Fisher led the Eagles with four ground balls. UMW goalkeeper Zack Del Grosso made 19 saves in net.

Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when they host Plattsburgh State University at noon.
