Dick, Bohlinger Lead UMW Men's Lax to 11-6 Win over Frostburg State

Sophomore attacker Luke Dick scored four goals, and sophomore John Bohlinger added three goals and two assists to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to an 11-6 win over Frostburg State University on Saturday on the Battleground turf. The Eagles improve to 8-4 on the season, and 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles jumped ahead early, as Dick scored the first three goals of the game. Sean Dacey scored with 2:09 left in the first quarter to up the Eagle advantage to 4-0 after one quarter. The teams traded goals through the second, with Bohlinger and Dick netting scores for UMW, and Bohlinger scored again unassisted with seven seconds remaining to give the Eagles a 7-2 halftime advantage.

In n the third quarter, UMW outscored the visitors, 3-0, with senior Harry Snyder, junior Paul Tunick and sophomore Billy Kelly finsing the nets. The Bobcats scored three times in the fourth, with Bohlinger capping the Eagle scoring on a Joey Marson assist.

The Eagles led in shots, 34-26, and had 36 ground balls to 26 for the Bobcats. Seniors Matt Prin (7 saves) and Ryan Montgomery (1) combined for eight saves for the Eagles. Marson ahd five ground balls to lead UMW. Chris Rios had two goals for Frostburg.

Mary Washington will visit Hood College next Saturday in another CAC contest starting at 1:00 p.m.
