UMW Men's Lax Falls to #1 Salisbury, 16-8

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team squared off against Capital Athletic Conference foe Salisbury University on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the number-one ranked Sea Gulls, 16-8. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

The Eagles came out fighting in the first quarter scoring two goals. Sophomore Joey Marson netted the Eagles' first goal in tying the game at one a piece. The Eagles' next goal came from sophomore John Bohlinger to tie the game at two. In the last forty seconds of the first quarter, the Sea Gulls scored twice and carried that momentum with them into halftime with a 9-3 lead.

The Eagles played tough throughout the second half, but it wasn't enough as the top ranked Sea Gulls were just too much, outshooting the Eagles 44-28 in the game. Sophomore John Bohlinger led the Eagles with three goals, while Joey Marson, Sean Dacey, Luke Dick, Josh Furnary and Billy Kelly each added one goal. Senior goalie Matt Prin played the entire game and had 10 saves.

This Saturday, the Eagles are back in action hosting Frostburg State University at 2:00.
