UMW Men's Lax Falls at #3 Salisbury, 18-2


The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-2 decision at third ranked Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action in Salisbury. The Eagles fall to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in CAC play.

The Sea Gulls jumped ahead early, outscoring UMW, 7-0, in the first quarter. Senior Mark Bowler (Cary, N.C., Cary) got the Eagles on the board with a man-up goal assisted by Evan Weiss (Oakton, Va., Madison) to open the second. Weiss also scored in the quarter as SU led, 12-2, at halftime.

The Sea Gulls outscored UMW, 6-0, in the second half. The Sea Gulls led in shots, 42-20, and in ground balls, 28-15. Ryan Montgomery (Chapel Hill, N.C., Chapel Hill) had seven saves, Ryan Kleman (Fairfax, VA, Robinson) four, and Zack DelGrosso (Charlottesville, VA, Albemarle) three in the UMW goal.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host CAC foe Marymount University at 4:00 p.m.
