UMW Men's Lax Falls at Goucher, 11-5

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-5 decision at Goucher College on Wednesday afternoon in Towson, Md. The Eagles fall to 4-4 on the season.

The Gophers jumped ahead with the first two goals of the game, but the Eagles cut the deficit to 2-1 with 2:51 remaining in the first quarter on Sean Dacey (Round Hill, Va., Loudoun Valley) 's unassisted score. Goucher netted the game's next two goals, before junior Harry Snyder (Charlottesville, Va., St. Anne's-Belfield) scored the first of his team-high three goals with 9:20 left in the second quarter. The Gophers led, 5-2, at halftime.

The Gophers scored the first two goals of the second half to up the lead to 7-2 and put the game away. Snyder, Dacey, and Evan Weiss (Oakton, Va., Madison) all scored second-half goals for the Eagles. Goucher outshot the Eagles, 31-20, and had 34 ground balls to 29 for UMW. Ryan Montgomery (Chapel Hill, N.C., Chapel Hill) had four saves for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will host St. Mary's College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
