Dan Wolfe has been named the head coach of the University of Mary Washington men's golf team, as announced by Interim Director of Athletics Patrick Catullo.

"We are extremely excited to announce the addition of UMW faculty member Dan Wolfe as our new head men's golf coach", said Catullo. "Dan is a Mary Washington graduate who competed on the golf team while he was a student here, and we look forward to the the direction in which he will lead the program."

Wolfe is a visiting instructor in the College of Business.  He is an '84 MWC alumnus, and has numerous contacts in the golf world and brings a new dimension to the program with his passion for working with our students and his interests in the sport of golf. 

Wolfe has had an amazing path back to Fredericksburg, having most recently served as the executive vice president of Worldwide Creative at NBC Universal. 

Wolfe oversaw a staff in Los Angeles and London of more than 100 employees who provided creative, post production, technical and other support worldwide for the marketing campaigns of all Universal's motion picture releases. His department is responsible for the development and execution of a films' marketing message for theatrical trailers, television commercials, print advertising, new media, radio, theme park placement and home entertainment including, pay-per-view and video-on-demand.

In his long career at Universal Pictures, Wolfe has been involved in over 400 films including the "Jurassic Park," "Fast and Furious," "Bourne" and "American Pie" franchises. Wolfe has been a part of 15 films that were nominated for Best Picture by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and four that won Oscars for Best Picture, including "Schindler's List," "Shakespeare in Love", "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind."

Before joining Universal in 1990, he was a manager of creative advertising at New Line Cinema and prior to that, Orion Pictures. While at Orion Pictures, Wolfe worked on campaigns for the Academy Award winning films "Dances with Wolves" and "Silence of the Lambs."

He is a graduate of Mary Washington College, which honored him with the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award, 2007 Distinguished Graduate-in-Residence and serves on the College of Business Advisory Board. He has a postgraduate degree in communication industries management from Emerson College and is a member of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences.
