UMW's Bonte, Manceri Named to VaSID College Division All-State Men's Golf Team

ASHLAND, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College Tigers claimed two of the top honors, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, while Washington and Lee's Brian Peccie was honored as the Player of the Year, as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the College Division Men's Golf All-State teams Thursday morning. It marked Peccie's second straight year earning the Player of the Year recognition, while H-SC's Chad Eisele earned his first Coach of the Year honor since taking over the program last year. John Ferguson, one of Eisele's newest team members, earned Rookie of the Year accolades.

Peccie, a Norfolk, Va native, follows up being named a Google Cloud Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) yesterday with the VaSID All-State honor today. The junior has plenty of accolades across his career with the Generals, both on and off the course. In 2018-2019 alone, Peccie garnered First Team All-American status and was a finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award. He finished tied for 28th at this year's Division III National Championship. Peccie tied for the individual Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship, while leading his team to the title. He was last year's Division III National Champion and was a VaSID First Team honoree in addition to being the Player of the Year in 2018.

Eisele completed his second season at the helm of the Tigers. Also the College's Athletic Director, Eisele was named the Jack Jensen Coach of the Year in the ODAC, coaching his squad to a third place finish at the ODAC Championship. Eisele led H-SC to Top 15 finishes in the Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll and the GolfStat Division III Top 25, where the Tigers finished 12th and 13th respectively. Hampden-Sydney also finished 12th overall at the 2019 Division III National Championship.

One part of the Tigers' efforts was Ferguson, a freshman from Rocky Mount, Va. He was the ODAC Rookie of the Year and part of the group that led H-SC to the National Championship contention. Ferguson finished 72nd  individually in Kentucky and was named to the Division III PING All-South Region Team. He finished the season ranked 61st in all of Division III Men's Golf. Ferguson earned four Top 10 finishes this season and earned a spot on the All-ODAC First Team for his efforts in 2018-2019.

Ferguson was joined on the VaSID All-State First Team by his teammate, Bruce Shober. Alongside Peccie, the First Team was rounded out by Christopher Newport's David Rabil and Southern Virginia's Nathan Ouimette.

H-SC was also represented on the VaSID All-State Second Team as the Tigers' Allen Smith earned the honor. He was joined by a pair from Mary Washington, Sebastien Bonte and Philip Manceri, Ferrum's Lance Keiser and Christopher Newport's William Snyder.
