Mary Washington freshman Sebastien Bonte secured CAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors after winning the individual title at the Bay Creek Invitational. Bonte fired a one-under-par 143 throughout the two days to defeat the second-place finisher by one stroke. Bonte opened the tournament with a one-under 71, followed by an even-par 72 on day two. The Eagles finished in second place in the team standings, two strokes behind Christopher Newport.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All eight CAC men's golf teams have opened up their fall seasons ... Five teams competed at the Bay Creek Invitational in Cape Charles, Va., site of the 2018 CAC Golf Championship ... 23rd-ranked Christopher Newport held off a charge by Mary Washington to secure the team's third straight title at the Bay Creek Invitational. In the third annual event, CNU (+26) beat out the Eagles (+28) by two strokes, powered by three individual finishes among the top six on the leaderboard. Junior David Rabil placed second individually at even par to lead the Captains ... Marymount senior Kyle Weitendorf led the Saints in both tournaments to start the season, carding rounds of 75 (+3) and 79 (+7) at the Tom Kinder Memorial before following up with rounds of 78 (+7) and 73 (+2) at the PSU-Harrisburg Fall Invitational to take 11th place,. Through the four rounds, he is averaging a 76.3, and maintaining a 79 for his career (43 rounds) ... Southern Virginia competed in its first-ever NCAA match at the Bay Creek Invitational. Sophomore Cameron Speyer led the Knights by shooting a combined 159, good enough for 16th place ... Tyler Spielberger led all Wesley golfers at the Swathmore/Neumann Fall Invitational on Sept. 10. Spielberger carded a 77 to finish in a four-way tie for eighth place.
