CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2019-20 men's basketball season. Mary Washington freshman forward Trey Barber earned CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trey Barber - Mary Washington
Freshman forward Trey Barber averaged 18.5 points, shooting 70% from the field as Mary Washington upset #4 Randolph-Macon and topped St. Mary's in the CAC opener this week. The 6-8 freshman made 5-7 shots and grabbed seven rebounds as UMW downed previously unbeaten Randolph-Macon, 70-65, on Wednesday, and followed up that effort with 22 points on 9-13 shooting with seven rebounds in an 87-57 win over St. Mary's.

LEAGUE NOTES
York senior guard Jared Wagner notched his team-leading sixth double-double in the Spartans' lone game for the week, their CAC opener at CNU. Wagner tossed in 24 points while he tied his career-high with 12 rebounds. He also had six assists and three steals in the game. He was 9-for-20 from the floor, 3-for-5 from three and 3-for-4 from the line. Of his 12 rebounds, eight came on the defensive end for York as he played all 40 minutes for the Spartans...St. Mary's junior forward Miles Gillette finished the week averaging 16 points per game and six rebounds per game. The junior forward recorded his fifth double-double of the season in a victory over Penn St.-Abington with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Next, Gillette notched 14 points in a loss at Mary Washington. In total, Gillette capped off the week with three assists, three steals, and one block...Salisbury junior guard Gary Briddell recorded double figures in both of Salisbury's wins during a 2-0 week. Briddell tallied a game-high 20 points in the Sea Gulls' 66-61 home win over The Apprentice School on Wednesday. Briddell shot 7-of-15 from the floor with a pair three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Briddell also added eight rebounds and two assists. Briddell followed that performance with another game-high 19-point effort in a 78-75 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday to earn Salisbury's first CAC win of the season. Briddell added four steals, three boards, and three assists to finish off the week...Dalon McHugh led Christopher Newport's attack in the CAC-opening victory over York by scoring 18 points against the Spartans...the senior knocked down 8 of 13 attempts and also pulled down 7 rebounds and added two assists as the Captains won their fifth straight game and improved to 12-4.
