Da'Shawn Cook Named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2019 men's basketball season. Mary Washington sophomore guard Da'Shawn Cook earned CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Da'Shawn Cook - Mary Washington

Mary Washington sophomore guard Da'Shawn Cook turned in a banner week for the Eagles, who won two of three contests to move to 6-1 on the season. For the week, he averaged 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a loss at Bridgewater, added 16 points on 6-11 shooting against Lynchburg, and scored a career high 29 with seven assists in a win over Randolph. For the week, he shot 46.9% from thee floor, including 39.1% from distance.

LEAGUE NOTES

St. Mary's junior Miles Gillette recorded the first double-double of the season for the Seahawks, leading the team with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 89-78 victory over William Peace. His mark in rebounds was a season-high. In addition, the junior forward tallied one assist and one block...Salisbury junior guard Johnny Fierstein registered his first collegiate double-double in the Sea Gulls' 66-47 win at Goucher on Saturday. Fierstein tallied a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and a career-best 11 rebounds. He also added five assists and a block in the win. For the week, Fierstein totaled 24 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in two games...Christopher Newport junior guard Jason Aigner posted 18 and 12 point performances this week as the Captains went 2-0 with victories over ODAC rivals Randolph and Lynchburg. The junior guard knocked down seven of 21 three-point tries, including a 6-of-11 night vs. Randolph as he led the Captains in scoring. Christopher Newport is 5-1 to start the season and ranked ninth in the nation in the pre-season poll from D3hoops.com.
