Drew Johnson Earns CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the opening weekend of the 2019 men's basketball season. Mary Washington junior forward Drew Johnson earned CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Drew Johnson - Mary Washington

Mary Washington junior forward Drew Johnson posted his first career double-double in Mary Washington's 81-53 win over Shenandoah in the season opener, scoring 12 points as one of six Eagles in double figures and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds. He connected on 5-10 shots from the field, making a pair of three point tries, and also had four assists and three steals, with one blocked shot.

LEAGUE NOTES

Southern Virginia senior Jamier Cross opened his senior season with two individually consistent performances at the MMI Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Hood College this past Saturday. He averaged 14.5 points per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 50 percent from deep. He added four rebounds and 3.5 assists per game...Salisbury junior guard paced the Salisbury offense with 32 points on 13-of-20 shooting including 6-of-11 from three to help the Sea Gulls go 1-1 in the Arcadia Tip-Off Tournament. Briddell also notched seven rebounds and two assists in the tournament. He tallied a game-high 15 points in Salisbury's 106-68 win on Saturday over Rosemont.
