The Tigers cut the deficit to two at 53-51 with 2:23 to play, but UMW responded with a dunk and layup from Mahoney to return the lead to six at 57-51 with 56 seconds remaining. A four-point play by HSC's Greg Lewis cut the deficit to two at 57-55, and after a turnover in the final second, Mike Murray shot a three pointer that hit the front of the rim, bounced five feet in the air, and came down through the net to give the Tigers the win at the buzzer.
