The 12th ranked University of Mary Washington men's basketball team fell for the first time at home all season, snapping a seven-game win streak with an 81-71 loss to Salisbury University on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Eagles fall to 18-3 overall, and 11-2 in CAC action.

UMW fell into an early deficit, 6-0, but gained the lead at 8-7 on a Dajon Daniel three pointer. With the score tied at 14 with 11:42 left in the first half, UMW used a 10-0 run to grab a 24-14 advantage. Daniel scored six points in the run, while Dylan Farinet and Marcellus Holley each added a three pointer.

Salisbury answered with a run of its own to regain the lead at 29-27 with 2:05 remaining. A late layup from Holley, who scored 10 points, tied the score at intermission at 32.

In the second, a Morra three pointer gave UMW the lead at 35-34, but the Sea Gulls took over from there, building the lead to six at 45-39 with 15:04 to play. After a Daniel layup with 11:46 to go cut the deficit to three at 49-46, Salisbury reeled off nine straight points to take a 12-point lead at 58-46.

The Eagles were able to trim the deficit to five, but could pull no closer, as the Sea Gulls held on for the 10-point win.

Mary Washington actually outshot Salisbury in the contest from the floor, making 28-61 field goals (45.9%) including 12-31 three pointers, but went just 3-5 from the free throw line. salisbury shot 44.8% (26-58), with 14-31 three pointers, and went 15-20 from the line. Salisbury led in rebounding, 38-31, and UMW committed 16 turnovers in the loss.

UMW was led by Daniel, whose 11-11 shooting from the floor established a new school record for single game shooting. He scored 24 points. Farinet scored 14 points, dished out six assists, and grabbed five rebounds, while Morra and Holley each scored 10 for UMW. Salisbury was led by Dominic Milburn's 27 points.

The Eagles, now just one-half game ahead of Wesley College in the CAC standings, will visit Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
