Both UMW Basketball Teams Honor Their Favorite Professors with "Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night"

The Mary Washington men's and women's basketball teams honored all UMW falculty and staff during the basketball games against Frostburg State on Wednesday. Each member of the UMW faculty and staff was invited to the games with their families and friends free of charge, on behalf of the Athletic Department and the Eagle Club. 

Each of the players invited their "Favorite Professor" to the game as their special guest for the night. At halftime allfaculty and staff in attendance were recognized, followed by a special salute to the invitees of the student-athletes.

"We are grateful for all that our outstanding faculty do every day and we are very pleased to be able to recognize them on Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night," said Ken Tyler, Director of Athletics. "UMW has winners in academics and athletics and we all work together to make UMW a special place!"

"It was awesome to see the bond our student-athletes have with their professors!" Director of Develpoment and Promotions Philip Pierce said about the event. "We not only had members of the Business, Science, History, Math, Foreign Language departments, but also represented were Dining Services, Facilities & Grounds, and even our very own Sport Information Director Clint Often. What a great example of how every single person working on this campus has the ability to make a significant impact on the students' lives."

Both men's and women's basketball teams return to action against Marymount this Saturday on Hall of Fame Day. The women tipoff at 1, while the men will follow at 3.
