Senior Bradley Riester scored a career-high 31 points, and classmate Dajon Daniel added 20 points and added six rebounds to lead the 12th ranked University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to an 87-59 victory over Frostburg State University on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles improve to 16-2 on the year, and 9-1 in CAC play.

UMW scored the first seven points of the game with a Riester three pointer, and baskets from junior Taylor Johnson and Daniel. UMW held a single-digit lead through much of the half, but used a 10-0 run with 4:37 left to push the lead to 35-19. After a Daniel three pointer and layup, Riester hit another of his seven three pointers, and Johnson made a steal and layup to push the margin to 16 with 2:21 to go in the half. The Bobcats scored the last three points of the half to cut the deficit to 37-24 at intermission.

The Eagles were able to keep the lead at double figures throughout the second half, as the margin stayed between 10 and 13 points for the first seven minutes of the half. With 13:32 left, UMW used a 10-3 run to up the lead to 20, at 61-41. The Bobcats answered with seven straight points, but the Eagles slowly added to their lead, pushing the margin to 25 on a Riester three with 7:13 left, and another Riester three capped the evening with 1:40 left.

Riester's career high of 31 points came on 10-20 shooting, including 7-14 three pointers, and also made all four of his free throws. He added three assists and three steals with just one turnover. Daniel scored 20 on 7-9 shooting from the floor and 5-7 from the charity stripe. Johnson was the third Eagle in double figures with 18 points, and also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds. Dylan Farinet also grabbed eight boards for UMW.

"I didn't knock down as many as I should have", said Riester afterwards. "But I kept getting open, so I kept shooting." Turning his attention ahead to Saturday's matchup with Marymount, Riester added, "I hope we get a big crowd Saturday for an important game in the conference against Marymount."

The Eagles shot 4.2% from the field (28-62), making 13-33 three pointers. UMW went 18-25 from the free throw line. Frostburg shot 39.3% from the floor (22-56), making 4-14 three pointers, and went 11-27 from the line. Frostburg held a 43-36 rebounding advantage.

The eagles will host Marymount University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. as the second half of a CAC doubleheader with the women, who tip off at 1.
