Senior forward Dylan Farinet scored 24 points, and classmate Bradley Riester added 18 to lead the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 75-48 victory at Frostburg State University on Wednesday night in both teams' Capital Athletic Conference opener. The Eagles improve to 5-1 overall.

The Bobcats edged ahead early, taking a 10-9 lead over the first 6:28. But UMW answered with an 8-0 run to grab a 17-10 lead. Dom Morra, Dajon Daniel, John Yoxthimer, and Taylor Johnson each scored layups in the run.

A Farinet layup with 6:20 remaining upped the Eagle lead to 25-15, and a Riester three pointer upped the margin to 14, but FSU scored four of the last five points of the half to give UMW a 35-26 halftime edge.

The Eagles outscored FSU, 40-22, in the second half to pull away. UMW used a 10-1 run early in the second half raise the lead to 52-33, and the lead reached 20 with 6:10 left. The Eagles closed the game on a 15-2 run, finishing with a 27-point win.

"It was great for the guys to come out and take care of business", said UMW head coach Rod Wood. "For the freshmen, who've never had to travel three and a half hours to play, it was a learning experience, and it was good to see us perform well most of the time."

Farinet scored 24 points on 7-15 shooting, with two three pointers, and went 8-11 from the free throw line. Riester added 18 on 4-7 shooting, with three three pointers, and went 7-7 from the line. Johnson was the third Eagle in double figures with 11. Yoxthimer led UMW with 10 rebounds, and Farinet added seven. Morra had five assists.

The Eagles shot 25-55 from the floor (45.5%) while limiting the hosts to 18-63 (28.6%). UMW made 18-30 free throws, and 7-15 three pointers. The Eagles led in rebounds, 49-36.

Mary Washington will visit Marymount University (6-1 overall, 1-0 CAC) on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
