UMW Men's Basketball Falls at Southern Virginia, 63-53

The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team suffered through a cold shooting night, falling at Southern Virginia University, 63-53, on Wednesday night. The Eagles fall to 8-10 on the season.

After a first half that saw the score tied at 32, Southern Virginia outscored the Eagles, 31-21, in the second half, shooting 40% while the Eagles struggled to 27%. Both teams hauled in 35 rebounds, but the Eagles committed 20 turnovers in defeat.

On a night where the team shot just 36% (19-52) and just 3-18 on three point shots, the leading scorer was freshman Lamonte Fields, who scored 10 points off the bench. Junior guard Bradley Riester scored nine points and added seven rebounds and sophomore Sean Armstrong added eight points and six rebounds for the Eagles. Southern Virginia was led by Casey Nye's 19 points.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Frostburg State University in Capital Athletic Conference action at 3:00 p.m.
