UMW Men's Basketball Falls at Embry-Riddle, 85-75



The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped an 85-75 decision at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Eagles fall to 8-4 on the season.

The Eagles battled from behind to tie the score at 14 with 10:30 remaining in the first half, but ERAU used a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to lead 26-16 with six minutes remaining. A pair of three pointers from senior guard Ryan Farrar and another from sophomore Bradley Riester cut the deficit to as few as five, and UMW trailed by seven at halftime, 35-28.

A three pointer from Farrar cut the deficit to two at 46-44 with 15:11 remaining, but a 7-0 run put ERAU ahead to stay. Embry-Riddle led by as many as 20 before the Eagles cut the deficit to as few as nine.

Mary Washington was led by Farrar's 21 points on 6-11 shooting, with six three pointers. Riester had 17 points on 5-11 shooting with five threes for UMW, and sophomore guard Walt Smith added 10 points and four rebounds.

The Eagles shot 23-61 from the floor, while ERAU made 28-64 shots.

Mary Washington will return to Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, January 4 when they visit Salisbury University at 6:00 p.m.
