UMW Men's Basketball Places Five in Double Figures, Tops Marymount, 89-75



Sophomore guard Bradley Riester (Richmond, Va., Monacan) scored 20 points to lead five Eagles in double figures as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team topped Marymount University, 89-75, on Friday in Capital Athletic Conference action in Arlington, Va. The Eagles improve to 3-0 in league play, and 7-2 overall.

The Eagles shot a blistering 51.8% from the floor (29-56), and hit 20-28 free throws in the win. Riester went 5-8 from the floor with 7-10 on free throws to pace the Eagles, who never trailed throughout. In all, UMW went 11-23 from long distance (47.8%).

Senior Tad Dickman (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) scored 15 points, sophomore E.J. Willis (Alexandria, Va., T.C. Williams) scored 14, and  sophomores Walt Smith (Alexandria, Va., T.C. Williams) and Matt Boward (Manassas, Va., Forest Park) scored 10 apiece for UMW, who improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. Dickman and senior Ryan Henderon each had five rebounds for the Eagles.

Marymount was led by Jesse Konadu's 18 points. The Saints shot 46% from the floor, but made just 3-24 three point attempts in the game. Both teams had 34 rebounds.

The Eagles will be back in action on  December 18 when they host Roanoke College at 2:00 p.m.
