Henderson, Farrar Lead UMW Men's Basketball Past Wesley, 87-85

Junior center Ryan Henderson (Richmond, Va., Highland Springs) scored 18 points and junior guard Ryan Farrar (Ashburn, Va., Centreville, Va.) scored 17 points to lead the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to an 87-85 victory over Wesley College on Saturday in the regular season finale. With the win, the Eagles gain the fourth seed in the CAC Tournament next week.

The Eagles led for much of the first half and led, 35-29, at halftime. Both teams' offenses exploded in the second half, combining for 108 points, with UMW holding on for the hard-fought win. Wesley held the lead for much of the second half, with UMW tying the score at 75-75 with 3:37 to play after trailing by five with 6:35 to go.

After the teams traded baskets, UMW regained the lead for good with 1:07 to play on a three pointer from Farrar. UMW ran the lead to five at 87-82 before Wesley hit a three at the buzzer for the two-point margin at the buzzer.

In addition junior Tad Dickman (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Eagles. Wesley was led by Chris Douglas' 23 points.

The Eagles will host fifth-seeded Hood College on Tuesday night in the CAC Tournament first round. Game time will be 7:00 p.m.
