UMW Rowing Opens Spring at Occoquan Sprints Regatta on Sunday

UMW Rowing competed in three events at their first sprint regatta of the spring season.  George Mason Men's Rowing hosted the regatta on the Occoquan Reservoir on a rather cold, breezy Sunday, 25 March 2018.  Crews battled 10 mph crosswinds that became quartering headwinds during the later races of the regatta.

The UMW Women's 4+, coxed by Emily Siegfried with Lauren Chartier, Kiele Marston, Emily O'Lare,  and Isabella Kiker placed third out of six entries, being bested by crews from VCU and Univ of Richmond, and beating Susquehanna University and both entries from Christopher Newport University.

The UMW Freshman/Novice 4+ entry, coxed by Delaney Resweber with Kieran O'Hare, Max Radel, Tim Morris, and Andrew Radel also placed third out of six entries, bested by crews from George Mason and Loyola.  The UMW crew had faster time than crews from Old Dominion University, Franklin and Marshall, and Susquehanna University.

The UMW varsity 8+, coxed by Grace Percival with Kyle Moran, Sean Ingraham, Christ Kostrzewa, John Wray, Corey Staier, Alex Dubik, Angus Long, and Dan Pan placed fifth out of five entries, being beaten by faster crews from University of Delaware, George Mason, Loyola, and Franklin and Marshall.

UMW's next regatta will be the Kerr Cup on Saturday, 14 April, on the Schuylkill River, hosted by Drexel University.
