Scott's Hat Trick Leads UMW Field Hockey Past DePauw, 6-3

Sophomore Grayson Scott scored her first hat trick to lead the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 6-3 victory over DePauw University at Centre College in Danville, Ky. on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 10-7 on the season, doubling last season's win total.

Scott got the Eagles on the scoreboard at 2:50 into the contest, and sophomore Monique Lipton followed at 8:55 to up the margin to 2-0. UMW added another in the second quarter, as Scott scored her second of the day on a pass from Lipton at 21:22.

After halftime, Scott upped the lead to 4-0 at 36:35, and senior Emma Bernard added another at 39:17. DePauw closed the gap at the close of the third and start of the fourth, with freshman Olivia Perrin scoring for the Eagles.

In all, UMW led in shots, 16-11, as well as penalty corners, 7-5. Senior goalie Bailey McNabb made five saves in 48 minutes, and Erin Roy made three stops in 12 for the Eagles. 

UMW will return to action on Saturday against Christopher Newport for Homecoming at 1:00 pm at the Battleground.
