UMW Field Hockey Falls at Catholic, 2-0, on Wednesday Night

Homestanding Catholic University broke open a scoreless tie with a pair of late goals to defeat the University of Mary Washington field hockey team, 2-0, on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C. The Eagles slip to 7-4 on the season.

In a battle that was played for the most part in the center of the field, the teams combined for just 14 shots (Catholic 8, UMW 6), and 13 penalty corners (UMW 7, Catholic 6). The game remained scoreless until the Cardinals caged two goals in the fourth quarter.

Eagle goalkeeper Bailey McNabb made four saves on the night.

UMW will return to action on Saturday when the Eagles host Rhodes College at noon.
