UMW Field Hockey Falls to Catholic, 4-1

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to Catholic University on Tuesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 2-5 on the season.

The Cardinals jumped ahead early, scoring 3:14 into play, and led, 1-0, after one quarter. The Eagles knotted the score on a score from junior Bella Urcia on a redirect of a Lexie Dixson shot with 6:29 to play before halftime.

The visitors scored once in the third quarter to take the lead, and added a pair in the fourth for the final margin of victory.

Catholic led in shots, 19-8, as wella s in penalty corners, 6-2. UMW sophomore goalie Jillian Lawrence recorded 11 saves for the game.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday night, as they visit Virginia Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.
