UMW Field Hockey Falls at #11 Franklin & Marshall, 5-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision at 11th ranked Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 2-2 on the season.

The Diplomats opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, and added another in the waning minutes of the frame to take a 2-0 advantage. After a scoreless second period, F&M added a goal in the third and a pair more in the fourth for the final margin.

Franklin & Marshall led in shots, 36-4, as well as in penalty corners, 12-6. Sophomore goalie Jillian Lawrence made 12 saves and junior defender Jackie Smith added a defensive save for the Eagles. F&M's Christina Seery had a pair of saves for the hosts.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Shenandoah University at 7:00 p.m.
