UMW Field Hockey Falls to #9 Salisbury, 5-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Wshington field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to visiting Salisbury University, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

After a scoreless first half, Salisbury reacheed the scoreboard at 52:15, scoring off a penalty corner, with Camryn Dennis scoring on an Arielle Johnston assist. The Sea Gulls would score three goals in a 3:01 span to take control. The second score came at 53:37, as Natalie Wilkinson scored on a Johnston feed, and the third came at 54:16 from Nicole Lindner.

The Sea Gulls then scored at 62:26 on a tally from Tara Daddio, and again at 63:27, on another Daddio score.

The Eagles were outshot in the game, 16-14, but led in penalty corners, 10-4. UMW goalkeeper Jessica Cavolt had nine saves, while Salisbury's Tressie Windsor provided 10.

UMW will be back in action on Thursday night when they visit Wesley College at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale.
