#18 UMW Field Hockey Blanks Framingham State, 13-0, on Sunday

Eleven different players scored goals to lead the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 13-0 victory over Framingham State University on Sunday in a game played at Tufts University. The Eagles improve to 6-3 on the season.

The Eagles wasted little time getting started, as senior Christine Loehr scored on a Lauren Hopkins assist with 34:10 left in the first. Hopkins scored 4:30 later to boost the lead to 2-0, and junior Erin Kaila scored on a Hopkins assist with 26:34 left to boost the lead to 3-0.

Junior Allegra Massey-Elim followed at 18:32 left on a Loehr assist, and junior Noor Varjabedian scored with 2:14 remaining. Sophomore Jordan Fam capped the first half scoring with a goal with 1:33 left.

In the second, sophomore Shelby Press scored with 33:25 left to run the lead to 7-0. Morgan LaRowe followed with a tally three minutes later, and Mackenzie Burnett scored with 25:22 remaining.

Kaila scored three minutes later on a Burnett assist, and Loehr scored her second of the day with 13:48 left. Cori Rydgren followed on a Burnett assist with 6:32 remaining, and Kim Morrison scored the final goal with 55 seconds on the clock.

The Eagles led in shots, 42-3, and in penalty corners, 18-2. Jessica Cavolt and Ivy Hollander split time in UMW's goal, with Hollander making one save.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Catholic University at 7:00 p.m.
