Steele's Late Goal Lifts #15 UMW Field Hockey to 1-0 Shutout Win at Dickinson

Senior Jenna Steele scored the game's lone goal with 9:15 remaining to lift the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 1-0 victory at Dickinson College on Tuesday afternoon in Carlisle, Pa. The Eagles improve to 10-3 on the season.

Despite holding a strong advantage in shots, the Eagles were held off the scoreboard until 60:45, when she took a pass from sophomore Allegra Massey-Elim and scored, giving the Eagles a lead they would hold on to.

The Eagles led in shots, 29-10, and in penalty corners, 13-6. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Cavolt had six saves in goal for UMW, while Emily Fuss had 15 saves and the Red Devils added three defensive saves on the day.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Saturday when they visit St. Mary's College in Capital Athletic Conference action starting at 1:00 p.m.
