#15 UMW Field Hockey Falls at #6 Franklin & Marshall, 2-0, on Saturday

The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision at sixth-ranked Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 4-1 on the season.

In a steady downpour, the Eagles found trouble getting started offensively, but the score remained scoreless at halftime. In the second, the Diplomats finally broke through with a goal from Clare Wirth with 16:22 remaining. F&M added a late insurance tally ten minutes later from Maria Guarisco.

Franklin and Marshall led in shots, 13-4, and in penalty corners, 12-6. Freshman goalie Jessica Cavolt had one save for the Eagles, while F&M's Ashley Gubernick had one save as well.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Lynchburg College at 7:00 p.m.
